Thai visa guide | What You Need to Know About the Thai Visa

What makes Thailand so convenient for travelers? One key advantage is the free visa stamp on arrival, granting you 45 days (or 30 days) in the country, which is issued right at the airport.

For many, there’s no need to apply in advance for a 3-month tourist visa at a Thai embassy in your capital or through agencies if you live outside major cities.

✅ If you’re planning to stay in Thailand for up to 45 days, a visa on arrival (VOA) is sufficient.

The visa on arrival is available to citizens of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Poland, Estonia, and 23 other countries. You can apply for it online in advance or get it directly at the airport.

Russian and Ukrainian citizens receive a free 45-day stamp at the border. However, not everyone gets this generous duration; for example, Kazakhstani citizens receive a 15-day visa on arrival.

🛂 To obtain a visa on arrival at the airport, you’ll need to present the following documents:

✅ A passport valid for at least 6 months from your entry date, with at least one blank page for the visa; Two 4×6 cm photos taken within the last 6 months; A completed immigration card, which will be provided on the plane; A copy of your onward flight ticket from Thailand; If you arrived from Kyiv, the flight ticket can be to a third country, such as Hong Kong or Kuala Lumpur—what matters is that you’re leaving Thailand; A visa application form, which is provided by Thai immigration at the counter.

📅 How to calculate the 45 days? Day 1 is the day your visa is stamped, and Day 45 is your departure day. If you wish to stay longer, you can take a one-day “border run” to a neighboring country and receive a new 45-day stamp upon re-entry. This trip costs around 2,000 baht, including all expenses. I can arrange this for you—just reach out! Alternatively, you can extend your stay for 7 days at an immigration office for 1,900 baht.

🛫 Since the most expensive part of this process is usually the flight, I always recommend staying in Thailand for at least a month to make the most of your trip. This way, you also benefit from the most cost-effective monthly rental rates!
